- He can run now. And climb like a monkey. This includes climbing on side tables, and standing on small tippy chairs. He loves "racing" around the house. This boy is an active and fast boy.
- He has gotten quite a few bumps on the head this month. I feel like "your poor head!" has been uttered too many times. Link just is fearless, adventurous, and enthusiastic which has led him to run into corners, fall on banisters, etc. We do our best to keep him safe...Robbie jokes that he needs to wear a helmet.
- Link is very chatty and animated, though he still only knows a handful of words.
- He now has three teeth, two big ones on the bottom and one on the top that just poked through...it's partner should be out any second. He has been great about teething, and hasn't shown any signs of discomfort thus far.
- The boy has spirit, and can be a little fiery at times. We have a hard time not to laugh when he throws a temper tantrum because its so dramatic and hilarious. His tantrum has three stages: first he holds both his arms straight out in front of him and bows his head while walking backwards several steps. Then he stands in downward facing dog pose for several seconds. Than he stands up and spins around several times. Of course he usually is crying/screeching while he does all this and that's not very funny, but the use of yoga to try and cool off at such a young age is adorable.
- Link is into building with blocks now and can stack 4 or 5 wooden blocks in a tower.
- He loves to read, and his favorite books of the moment are Big Fat Hen and Brown Bear Brown Bear What do you See?
- Links favorite toys to play with are his music block (plays different classical music), his talking Dinosaur Train characters (Mr. Conductor and Don), trains, farm animals, the bulldozer, the firetruck (he pulls it around by the ladder), his puppy and playing kitchen. He has started playing pretend a little bit and drives his cars and trucks around, flies planes and helicopters while making flying sounds, and will move farm animals around as if they are walking (like around train tracks and such).
- He likes to help us put clean silverware from the dishwasher away now.
- Link is obsessed with vacuuming and will follow us around with a big grin while we vacuum. He gets so upset when we put the vacuum away that he cries.
Some highlights from Meo's month:
- Meo really has gotten into Bernstein Bear books and Dr. Suess books this month. Like, I had to read 3 Bernstein Bear books before we even got out of bed to make breakfast this morning kind of obsessed. We read lots and LOTS and LOTS. It's pretty awesome how much they both love books.
- He loves to dance, especially to his favorite songs from Cars and Planes Fire and Rescue: Life is a Highway, All in and Still I Fly. We dance to these songs so much that as soon as one comes on, even Link will get a huge grin and start dancing. I'm not sure if there is anything cuter than a 3 year old and a 1 year old dancing their little hearts out.
- Meo grows more and more clever every day and often surprises us with the depth of his stories, how imaginative he is when he plays, and the fact that he is better at making up songs than his father.
- Meo is super snuggle and sweet and is always full of hugs, kisses and kind words to his family. My favorite things he says regularly is "I love you sooo much" and "You are beautiful".
- Sometimes he doesn't listen and argues and throws little tantrums or fake cries. I find that he is usally pretty easy to reason with and I can almost always get him to snap out of it with my "oh really" look. Dad has a little bit more trouble than I do, and Meo and Robbie really know how to push each others buttons, but they are figuring it out.
- Meo is loving his martial arts class and the music class that he is able to go to with Link and his friends. He has been doing really well in both these classes and has been enthusiastic and a good listener.
- He learned how to dress himself this month. No socks yet, but he can handle most pairs of pants, shirts, undies and even coat and boots at this point. Good job Meo!
- Meo's favorite toys to play with at the moment are his shovel and his Planes Fire & Rescue toys (Blade, Windlifter, Blackout and Dusty).
- Favorite movies: Frozen, Planes: Fire & Rescue, Cars
Meo: We're hungry!
Me: well have some puffs with link
Meo: we don't eat puffs, we need gas!
Me: oh, where are you going to get that?
Meo: right over here, FROM YOUR TOOSH!! (As he pushes a helicopter against my butt and laughs hysterically).
He's getting better at this joke thing
2/18/2015: Me: what did you say?
Meo: yeah, why?
Me: no, what did you say?
Meo: yeah why?
Me: no before! What did you say?
Meo: yeah, why?
Me: ugh! Why are you saying that??
Meo: I'm just being Olaf!
2/18/2015: Meo: Mom, I spilled a little syrup on the table
Me: that's fine, we will clean it up after
Meo: I just don't care
Me: what do you mean
Meo: these things sometimes happen in life
