Beach Days (23 Months Meo)

This has been a really hot month, and after getting too run down from overdoing it in the heat I decided to take it easy and not spend so much time in the sun. But soon as it started cooling off a little, Meo and I started hitting the beach again. Here are a few trips that we were able to make this month:

Ferry Beach State Park with Mema

This is the day I could not find my maternity bathing suit bottom ANYWHERE. Robbie helped me search the entire house (turns out, he's not very good at searching for things as it was in my backpack which he said he looked through twice), but we couldn't find it anywhere. As we were running late to get Robbie to work on time, I desperately decided to wear the only other bathing suit I could fit into...my leopard print bikini. I felt pretty silly wearing it, but it's not everyday you get to let your big 23 week pregnant belly be fantastically free. My mom came to the beach with us, and Mema and Meo had a lovely long walk along the sand and playing in the water so this Mama could take a little nap in our sun tent and read a novel. Thanks Mema!

Walk around Mackworth Island and shore exploration

I took Meo for a walk around Mackworth Island, but he decided he would rather be carried. So at 24 weeks pregnant, I carried Meo on my back around the entire island, stopping for a break midway to play in the ocean. We had a great morning!

Play Date at Bay View with Beach with Leela and Carter

On perhaps the most perfect beach day yet (not too hot outside, but the ocean was warm enough to swim), we invited our friends Leela and Carter (and their wonderful Mamas) to come play with us at the beach. It was a fantastic morning of playing in the waves, digging sand, playing chase, and eating lots of snacks.

Being one is so much fun...even when your sick

We are almost done with our colds/croup at this point, but Meo and I decided to stay home to be on the safe side. His nose is still runny and we don't want to risk other babies catching his cold, although we do miss going to play dates! But we have been having lots of fun nonetheless!

Last night, Robbie got the new Borderlands 2 on XBOX 360, which he has been super looking forward to for months and months; so much so that he took the day off today so he could play it.

Since there is a lot of violence in the game, I don't really want Meo watching it. This has been tricky business!

So I have been trying to restrict the time we spend upstairs to cooking time, and Meo has been a little chef! Together we made lots of delicious foods, like smoothies, kale quiche, and oatmeal.

Quiche made with kale from our garden, organic carrots, eggs and cheddar from Pineland Farms, and organic goat cheese

Oatmeal with cranberries, apricots and sliced almonds

So we have been spending a lot of time playing downstairs in our room or outside. Downstairs we have been having music sessions, reading lots of books, having independent play time, and doing yoga together.

Outside, we attempted to do an art project. We painted by rolling acorns around in paint in a pan. I though Meo would be really into shaking the pan, but he was more interested in either taking the paint coated acorns out, or running off with the pan.

So instead of spending a long time doing art, I watched him follow our cat Pi around instead.

After lunch, we were able to convince Daddy to take a break from his game to get some fresh air and go for a walk with us. That was really nice!

When we got back, I spent a little time practicing guitar with Meo in the yard. He is really into trying to pull on the strings, but I was able to guide his hand to strum instead and he enjoyed that.

So as you can see, being sick at home really hasn't been so bad! I'm glad I have a cool little dude like Meo to hang out with all day.
