Yesterday all of our moms (Robbie's mom, my mom and step mom) through a wonderful baby shower for us at my Grammy's house. Robbie and I had a lot of fun and were both so happy that all three of our mom's got involved and had fun getting together over the past few months to plan everything. They did such a great job! Thank you so much!

Since it was raining outside, we had the party in the basement, and my Dad and sister had fun decorating with lots and lots of colorful streamers. Lots of family and friends were able to to come, and we were so happy to see everyone. It really means a lot to us to have so much support and love around us. They made lots of food: stuff to make sandwiches, pasta salads (one for carnivores and one for non-carnivores), fruit salad, chips, and all sorts of other goodies. Our sister-in-law had a beautiful apple spice cake made for us with an image of the character Mattimeo from the
Redwall series (Mattimeo's namesake) for desert. Everyone loved it and it was completely demolished by the end of the shower.
Our moms came up with a few different fun games for us to play throughout the shower. To start, they duct-taped a big ball around Robbie's middle (which he wore for the entire shower) and had us race. They had to pails full of baby stuff and we were told to pick one item up at a time, hold it under our chin then run with it to the other side of the room and drop it into a hula hoop. The first one to finish was the winner. I should have won, but unfortunately I missed the hula hoop 2 times with my last item which allowed Robbie to catch up to me and win. Another game we played as sort of an intermission to present opening was a contest to see who could identify the most different flavors of baby food blindfolded. They fed us each a bunch of different flavors with tiny baby spoons. I was laughing a lot and managed to get baby food not only all over my face, but also up my nose. But in the end I won the competition with three correct guesses to Robbie's two. They had prizes for the winners of each competition too. There was also a couple of games for the rest of the shower guests. One was to guess how many balls of Lindt chocolate was stuffed into a giant baby bottle (The winner got to keep the chocolate). The other was a raffle in which everyone had a ticket attached to their chair and they drew about 10 or so numbers from a bowl and gave prizes to the winners. Robbie and I enjoyed ourselves and we hope everyone else did too.
Of course a majority of the shower was spent opening up our big pile of presents. I was really nervous to go to the shower because I get scared about being the center of attention. I was really happy that we decided to have a boy and girl shower so that Robbie could sit up in front of everyone with me and take turns opening gifts. After all, this is his baby too, and he's done such a great job taking care of me and our baby that he deserves a shower just as much as I do. We got so many great gifts! Truly, we were overwhelmed with everyone's generosity. We don't have a lot of money, so the fact that so much of the stuff we need was bought for us is incredibly helpful. We really don't know how to thank people enough. Oh and the stuff we got is all so cute and precious! I was really excited when we got home and had Robbie get quarters so we could start washing the the sheets and stuff so we could start setting up the nursery right away. It is going to be so lovely and cozy, I am super excited. I already love hanging out in there by the big cushy chair near the window reading books on my relaxing afternoons post-dog-walking. So thank you all again so much, we love and appreciate all of you and are excited for you to meet our baby boy!
Also thanks to all the people who put the shower together and made it run so smoothly: all our moms for organizing it and running it, Grammy for letting us have it at her house and helping with set up and clean up, our Dads for helping with set up and clean up, Robbie's dad for taking pictures for us, our sisters (Jess and Sam) for recording gifts and packaging them up for us, to everyone who helped us carry gifts out to the car and clean up the basement, and to everyone who gave us helpful baby advice. Thank you!
