Second Pregnancy; First Ultrasound

13 Weeks

This week (at 13 weeks and 1 day pregnant) we had our first ultrasound for our newest family member. Both Robbie and Meo were able to come with me, which made me very happy! Mattimeo was adorable in the waiting room. He read books with Robbie, buzzed his lips while he played car in such a way that Robbie started crying he was laughing so hard, he joined me in line only to lay down on the floor behind me underneath some lady and started giggling, and he pointed to all the pregnant women and called them "mamas". It sounds like things got a little crazy, but he really was very well behaved, just a tad silly.

The ultrasound went great. The technician we had was really wonderful; she has a daughter who is just a couple months younger than Meo so she was great about how she interacted with him. She was also interested to talk to as her little family (dog included) live half the year in Germany and half the year here. She let Meo squeeze the gel onto my belly which he loved doing, and when our little love popped up on the screen, Robbie held him up to see and he kept saying "Baby! Baby! Baby!". The technician even printed Meo his very own picture of the baby which he carried around and looked at very thoughtfully.

The baby looks very healthy so far. She/he is measuring right where she/he should be, his/her heart and other organs look normal so far, and she/he has 10 tiny adorable little fingers that were waving around. The baby insisted on hanging out spine-up so I had to spend a lot of time laying on my side, on my belly, and walking up and down the hall with an eager Meo to try to get the baby into a good position for the technician to  get the spinal measurements she needed. It took a long time, but I didn't mind because that meant I got to see our baby longer.

We are all so very excited and are glad that everything looks great so far!
