6 month old Link was a ball of energy. Not unlike a ninja, he could navigate around a room to get to whatever object his heart desired. Thank goodness our house is already baby proof. Not only is he rolling now, but he also gets up on his knees a bit and scoots like an inch worm. He's going to be crawling soon, I'm sure of it.
Link is also a sturdy sitter now. By sturdy, I mean that I am comfortable leaving him unintended while he sits without pillows behind his back. I do not mean that he never falls. His core is pretty sturdy and he usually steadies himself rather than falling, but now he reaches for things and goes onto his knees and ends up on his belly. Not so much falling, but working towards crawling.
First beach day
This baby loves to eat. He is eating everything now except for honey pretty much. Certain foods like peanut butter, nuts, popcorn and such we haven't given him because they are choking hazards. But pretty much anything that is safe for him to put in his mouth, he does, and he loves it. Last night he had orzo with artichokes, baby spinach, marinara sauce and goat cheese and he had about 3/4 cup of it. He still is drinking lots of mama milk, and he also occasionally practices drinking water from a small cup.
He loves music. There is a couple songs that reliably calm him down and help him to focus: "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Twinkle Little Star", and "Husha my Baby". Meo has always been really great and attentive during story time, but Link is pretty wiggly and I usually have to give him a toy to distract his energy while we read. But if it is a book that is sung he will be still and pay attention. He recently started reaching for instruments out of his music basket and playing them a little bit (shaking eggs/tambourines and click sticks together).
Verbally he hasn't said any words yet, although I was pretty sure he said mama the other day. I'm not counting it though. He moans a lot for his food, and occasionally he will us the sign for "milk" now, which is awesome. He laughs a lot now.
Link is pretty rough. Like he really hurts Robbie and I sometimes by grabbing our face, eyes, necks, etc. with a death grip or a strong pinch. We are really working on teaching him the world gentle and showing him how to touch without grasping. He's just such a physical baby and loves to explore with movement. So I am trying to fit in more baby yoga time with him because I find he really enjoys it and benefits from it. It's something Meo, Link and I love to do all together.
Link has the best smile. He is just a happy guy and he reliably smiles whenever he sees us. His smile combined with his big blue eyes and sweet, kissable lips make us all feel generally more cheerful. We are so in love with our baby Link.
Link's stats: 18 lbs 3 oz and 25 3/4 inches
(Meo at 6 months was 18 lbs 1.4 oz and 27 inches)
