Summary of 8 month Link

Another month has come and gone...this baby has grown too quick. And boy is is quick. Like, I stick him on the other side of the house so I can finish sweeping my pile of food crumbs and somehow he is back to the pile before I get there myself quick. Let me tell you a little about 8 month old Link:

- He is a professional crawler these days. He knows what he wants, he knows how to get there, and he's fast. He can climb over obstacles; he is determined. He has always been a very active baby, so we aren't really surprised this time has already come. But was really amazes us is just how different Link is from Meo (Meo was fun and playful but nowhere near as busy and active as Link at this age!). Because of how much Link gets around, we have been able to see that he understands much more than we thought, and has the ability to think several steps ahead. He also likes to get into things that we never had to worry about with Meo...like wires and curtains and stuff like that. But he is SO MUCH FUN! Even Meo has been really enjoying this stage of Link's development and its so sweet to see them actually playing and laughing together frequently.

- He's cruising! If a speedy crawler wasn't enough, now he stands up on everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Couches, toys, chairs, walls....anything that will support him. And sometimes stuff that won't support him. He's learning, but he certainly gets himself into so tricky situations! I suppose that is to be expected from such a young, little, enthusiastic adventurer.

- No new words, but he has a lot to say! He has all sorts of sounds and expressions and is very good at communicating his needs to us. Which makes me think that we need to start being more proactive about sign language!

- It's nearly impossible to change his diaper, and he hates getting dressed. It's pretty much a wrestling match every time we try...though music can sometimes still his flailing limbs.

- Link eats everything, and lots of it. We are so pleased with his enthusiasm with vegetables especially.

- He is actually starting to be able to sit still long enough in our laps to be read to...and seems to enjoy it! This is a relief to us, because for a while it just felt like we were reading at him. He is now becoming more engaged and enthusiastic about being read to.

- Link still loves music! He especially loves being sung to, playing his piano, and playing the drums. I think music is the key to this boys heart and soul.

- Link enjoys playing outside and taking in the big wide world. He has recently gotten back into the habit of taking a nap on my back (in the Ergo carrier) while the three of us enjoy a long walk. He loves playing at the playground (especially going on the swing) and he enjoys crawling around and exploring the back yard. He thinks bubbles are hilarious.

- He's still an incredibly happy and always smiling baby. He still has big, blue eyes. He still can melt your heart with just a look...but now he has a darling little head tilt to throw you completely under his cuteness spell.
