Camp Foley 2014

Reading on the way to Camp Foley

Last year, we did not have our annual Camp Foley trip. Fearing that Camp Foley was just a joyous party of our youth, never to happen again, imagine our delight when Rob announced that Camp Foley was happening again this year!

This was Link's first Camp Foley. I should mention that we are the only ones of our friends who have children and we are very grateful that they welcome the boys to join us for our annual weekend of fun. Thanks guys.

Camp Foley is a place for lounging by the lake, playing board games, enjoying adult beverages and catching up with friends. It was too cold for swimming this year, but we had fun playing by the lake anyways.

Camp Foley has also been known to be a place of crazy (and not always mature) antics. Meo is already eager to add to the craziness.

I was happy that I had a lot of free time to knit while I was there. I was able to finish Link's pumpkin hat as well start a Christmas present for my niece.

I think my favorite part about Camp Foley this year though was seeing our friends play with Meo and Link. Meo has become much more social in this past year and it is really cool easedropping on conversations he has with our friends.

Camp Foley isn't exactly baby proof, but we all made do. Link was sure to find all the ways he could be mischievious.

Night time used to be a time of loud music and dancing and video games and board games. This time it was a little more relaxing with sleeping babies and board games...which was still very fun.

One of the days we were there we decided to go to the Common Ground fair. However, we got a late start because I stubbornly wanted to finish Link's pumpkin hat before the fair.

This led to us being in a never-ending, almost never-moving line of traffic that Robbie did not want to wait in. So we drove about 4 hours in all just to have lunch in a restaurant. It was a big waste of all our time and we were all pretty moody about it. Especially me.

But when we got back to Camp Foley we played outside and took the boys canoing for the very first time. That made everything better.

We only canoed for about a half hour, but the boys enjoyed it. The appear to be very serious in the photos I took...but they did have fun. I swear.

We also took a walk to a nearby playground which turned out to be a pretty epic playground. We all had a lot of fun there.

We even saw a deer on our way back! As you can see...the day ended up being pretty great despite all the pointless driving.

The last thing we did at Camp Foley was take our traditional walk over to Tubby's for ice cream cones. It was cold outside and the flavors were limited because they were closing for the season in a couple hours, but it was still fantastic.
