Hiking Bald Pate Mountain with Friends
This weekend, we took a little hike with some very good friends.
We went up Bald Pate Mountain (in Maine) with Jeremy and his awesome kids, Finn and Osa. Meo did not want to walk at first because we saw some dirt bikes at the trail head and they terrified him. Robbie ended up carrying Meo on his shoulders about half way up. I carried a sleeping Link.
Eventually Meo felt he could brave the trail (and Robbie's back was breaking), and he ran free with his pals...exploring and giggling.
The summit of Bald Pate is especially nice because it is broad and fun to explore the play on. There is lots of shelter, but the view is still spectacular from wherever you stand. We enjoyed handing out on the summit, eating and adventuring for quite some time.
We took a slightly different way down which was was a little bit faster but allowed for a variety of it's own spectacular views.
All the kids were really tired by the end, but they did an awesome job hiking and keeping positive attitudes.
I'm glad we took the time to hike while the foliage is still spectacular, the weather is just right and with such excellent company.
