Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's out there! I consider myself very lucky to have not just one Mom, but three Moms all of which are wonderful, supportive, loving, and great friends to me. Robbie and I were able to spend time with all three this weekend, which was very fun, and I am thankful that we live close enough to all of them to be able to do that. We walked along the Saco River with my mom and her three goofy dogs, played ball in the backyard with Sue and her happy-go-lucky pooches, and played with Robbie's parents' playful kitten after admiring all the pretty flowers they have coming up in their yard.

Though I suppose I am not officially a mother yet, I certainly do have a baby inside me that I work hard to take care of and enjoy the company of every second. To celebrate the blossoming of motherhood, Robbie brought me to a greenhouse to pick out some plants to fill our little balcony with. About a month ago I had planted some seeds with hopes of using those plants to fill my container garden. Unfortunately the lighting in our apartment wasn't enough for them to really thrive, and they never got as big and strong as I needed them too. Plus, one or both of my naughty kitties knocked some of them over this weekend. So we went to the greenhouse to pick out some healthy, thriving plants to replace them. I have two long window boxes that we have hung off the sides of the balcony. One I planted some basil and rosemary in, as these are our two favorite herbs to cook with. The other I filled with shade-tolerant annuals. I really enjoyed picking out flowers that compliment each other, then arranging them in the container when we got home. Making flower container arrangements was one of my favorite things to do when I worked at a greenhouse, and it was nice to make one for myself for a change. In a few weeks when it is a little warmer outside we are going to go back to the greenhouse to get a some tomato plants to try our hand at container vegetable gardening.
