Wolfe's Neck Farm with Sam and Luke's Family

Because Meo was in need of warm, waterproof mittens and a hat that didn't fall off or cover his eyes when he's on my back, we decided to head into Freeport on Friday to browse some of our favorite outdoor stores. To make the most of our visit, we decided to head over to Wolfe's Neck Farm first to say high to all the animals. It had been a little while since Meo had been around farm animals (since before he could walk), so I thought it would be fun to see how he took to all the interesting creatures this time around. We were joined by my sister Sam and our friend Alison and her son Luke and her mom who was visiting from up north. Luke is 18 months old and Meo is 15 months old, so they both are able to walk around and explore their surroundings on their own now. They have a pig now which they had never had before, and Meo thought it was very interesting. In general, Meo kept his distance from the animals, content to stand about 3 feet back and point at and observe them.

My favorite part about visiting the farm, besides getting to hang out with awesome people, was helping Mattimeo feed the sheep grain. I held his little fingers flat so they wouldn't get nibbled, and he was brave enough to stand still and let the sheep lick the food from his hand. He thought it was so funny! I love how much Mattimeo enjoys the company of animals. He is very much like his mommy in that respect.

You can tell he has a huge grin in this photo

Sam also enjoyed the company of the sheep, and actually had a mini love session with them in the sunshine. The gathered around her to enjoy sunbathing while having their soft noses stroked. It was really quite sweet.

Meanwhile, Meo found a piece of corn stalk to play with.

We also found a tiny, Meo sized tractor for Meo to ride around in. He wasn't quite tall enough to use it on his own, so Auntie Sam pushed him and they went around to visit the animals again.

Tiny tractor!

Luke was interested in the tractor when he saw it too, but he was more interested in pushing it around than riding on it.

I think Luke enjoyed himself at the farm too, but I think his favorite thing to do was to sweep the barn floor with a huge push broom.

It was really nice to see Alison and to meet her mom. It was also fun to see Meo and Luke together, even though the were pretty busy doing their own separate things most of the time.

After Alison and her family left, we had a little picnic lunch inside the hut. We had a special visit from one of the sweet barn cats, which we all enjoyed (I used to sneak this particular one inside with me when I worked on the farm and he would keep me company in the office hehe). Meo sat cross-legged on the picnic table and ate some peanut butter and jelly sandwich, raisins, apple sauce and crackers. I think it's so cute that he sits cross-legged all the time.

Once we finished lunch, we headed into downtown Freeport to do a little shopping. It was fun shopping with my sister; I really enjoy her company and I feel like it had been awhile since we went out together. At LLBean we found a really cute warm suit (for when I wear him on our winter walks), a nice pair of mittens, and a bonus pair of cozy moose slippers for Meo. So overall, it was a pretty successful shopping trip.

Thank you Sam and Alison for hanging out with Meo and I! We had a really fun day in Freeport!
