Summer Perfection

Notes from a summer day:

A walk in the forest after a long time away
(to check how the mosquitoes and ticks fair now)
Treasures found: acorns, tiny pine cones, rocks and fern
A pregnant Mama carries her boy through the prickly meadow.

A wagon ride under a cloudy blue sky.
Tiny tree frog visitor.
Boy hopping up and down, trying to pounce grasshoppers with Pi
Squealing with delight.

Naked boy running wild and free
Splashing in the pool
Climbing and balancing on logs
Completely absorbed with his water table; Mama reclines and enjoys a classic novel.

Fruit salad and cheese and crackers
Sleepy cats, and a cheerful sunflower from a wonderful friend
Peaceful late afternoon naps sans any fuss

Grasshopper introductions at dusk
"Mama get down, come play Meo!"
Balance games for two.

Colorful beans fresh from the garden
Giggles, singing new songs
Making pretend cake soup.

Hummingbirds, goldfinches, and doves
half moon in a sky still blue
wind gently blowing through the trees; learning about sounds
bare feet gently padding on wood.

Dance party on the stairs
Giggles and snuggles
kisses goodnight
lullabies sung by three.
