Yesterday my little baby graduated from being a newborn, officially ending our fourth trimester. It is a bittersweet feeling. He's growing so beautifully, and its wonderful to see his personality coming out more and more, but it's hard to say goodbye to these baby days we will never see again.
Here are some highlights of Link's third month:
- Started belly laughing. He doesn't do it all the time yet, but when he does, it's musical.
- Smiles all the time. He has a grin that spreads from ear to ear, and he smiles whenever he sees me. He melts my heart.
- Has become very good at reaching and grabbing objects. He seems to be focusing all his efforts on fine tuning his hand-eye coordination. When he is on his belly or back now, he is most interested in trying to grab stuff. He usually brings the toys he grabs to his mouth and tries to chew on them or will study them intently. He can entertain himself for a long time grabbing/studying/mouthing toys now. His pediatrician said he was very advanced for his age.
- Has started to discover his loud/screechy voice. He will lay there and squeal at us our his toys with the biggest smile. I remember when Meo went through this "screeching phase" it was very, very loud. Link's screech is not nearly as loud and is adorably pleasant.
- Link nurses very well and often. He is getting plenty of mama milk and growing big and strong despite his big brother still nursing 4-6 times a day.
- His head control is much improved and he holds himself up pretty well when we carry him around or if he sits in his bumbo chair occasionally.
- He really loves bath time. You've never seen a happy baby until you see Link kicking his legs in the bath tub.
- Link enjoys playing peekaboo (it makes him smile and squeal), reading books with us, music class (he just loves hearing all the music and watching all the commotion as people play instruments and dance around), and being sung too. His favorite lullaby is "Husha my Baby" which is an African inspired melody from our Music Together class.
Today he had his 4-month check-up and everything looks great. The Doctor said she thinks he's going to be a lot more busy and active than Meo was...Link is quite squirmy! He already is scooting across the floor a little. Meo was/is very active too though, if anything Link is more independent than Meo was, but I also think that's typical of a second child.
Here are his stats for this month:
Height: 25 inches (46%)
Weight: 15 lobs 7.4 oz (55%)
Head Circumference: (67%)
Link is happy, intelligent and strong, and we love him to bits.
