Link's first Maine Maple Sunday (4 months)

Today was Link's first Maine Maple Sunday. I think that qualifies it as a family tradition, as we have gone three years in a row (since Meo was in infant). We started the day by making blueberry oatmeal pancakes with wild Maine blueberries and local maple syrup. Meo wanted to drink the syrup straight from the jug.

Then we headed over to Hilltop Boilers Maple Syrup, which is where we took Meo the first year we went.

They gave out tiny pancakes drenched in delicious maple syrup.

Our friends Jeremy and Sarah met us there with their wonderful children Finn and Osa. Meo was feeling shy from all the commotion and frustrated because he had to pee but was too nervous to go. But I think he still had a nice time, and was happy to see his friends.

Osa checked to see if there was any syrup in the buckets. Meo and I checked some other buckets later on.

We went into the barn to see the cows and pigs. Meo was really excited about this, but once we were inside he was terribly nervous. I think we will have to work our way back up to being comfortable around the big farm animals again this spring.

Before we left, we made sure to check out the sugar shack so that Meo could see how the maple syrup was made. We also picked up some of our favorite maple treats!

Link is still too little to try maple syrup, but I think he enjoyed his first Maine Maple Sunday nonetheless.
