Hiking Ossipee Hill

Today Meo turned 13 months old and we went on a very special hike up Ossipee Hill with two of his grandmothers. It is by no means a difficult hike, but the end bit is steep enough that you can work up a pretty good sweat and there is a nice view of Waterboro (the town we live in) and surrounding areas.

There were lots of beautiful flowers and monarch butterflies on the trail; at one point about 20 butterflies flew around our heads!

Grandma Robinson stuck to doing the first part of the trail, then headed back at a leisurely pace while me, Meo, and my mom booked it up the rest of the hill. There was a new road made off of the trail that I didn't know about and accidentally took my mom up! We were quite disappointed to realize it didn't go to the summit.

My mom was determined to make it to the summit, so we got back onto the correct trail and found the correct turnoff at the yellow gate (I knew the gate was yellow, but I thought maybe they had just put a knew one in since I was there last!). The rest of the trail is steepish and we were both got pretty sweaty! Meo fell asleep.

We finally made it to the summit though, and were rewarded with a pretty view and a cool breeze.

Eventually Meo woke up, so we got some pictures of him playing on the summit too.

Then we carefully headed back down and found Grandma back at the car. It was a great hike, and I'm so glad that we were able to hike with Meo's grandmas; I feel like that's something not many people get to do!
